Philosophy seems to be secondary research when we research the genealogy of
human thought evolution. This reason provides the ways to establish many branches
in Philosophy. Ethical thoughts which have been dealt in Philosophy can be
identified, the inquiry of contemporary human activities. This branch is labeled as
Applied Ethics. The expansions of the wastes are the threatened to the human being.
Particularly, the daily routine activities of human being pollute the air, water and
land. In this manner, the biosphere has been established as a reflection of the origin
of species, its growth and evolution. Hence, the results of the impacts made by human
beings are a barrier to establish biosphere well. On the other hand, we cannot
maintain the balance of environment with the pile of wastes and the awareness of it
is a little level among the people. Therefore, the contemporary human being is facing
many challenges. Applied ethics, which is one of the branches of Ethics pays
attention on such challenges. In this way, this article attempts to disclose the
challenges which the human being is facing nowadays by wastes and provide some
suggestions to manage the wastes properly using the comparative, analytical and
critical methods.

Knowledge is considered as a capital. If a capital is managed strategically the result or the outcome is derived fruitfully. Keeping the high amount of capital is considered as less important than managing the capital. Present times all spheres of sectors in a country pay much attention on knowledge capital and proper management of the capital. Using tacit knowledge in proper way has unique feature based on its importance. When there is inadequate usage of tacit knowledge, there is an imbalance in managing knowledge capital. In this context, there is no proper arrangement to manage tacit knowledge in Sri Lanka. The problem of the research is to articulate the importance of knowledge economy in recovering from the economic crisis. This research specifically intends to evaluate the current trend of using tacit knowledge. This study is a conceptual research paper and qualitative research method is employed. Hence, secondary resources are taken for the analysis. Based on the theoretical background, Sri Lankan situation is evaluated. Based on the secondary information, a concept tacit knowledge is analyzed and recommendations are given based on proper knowledge management theories, mainly maintaining the tacit knowledge is a sustainable way to keep economic stability.

International humanitarian law, a branch of public international law, regulates the
conduct of hostilities and seeks to protect those who are not or are no longer
participating in hostilities, such as civilians and prisoners of war. Yet, the evolution
of today's international humanitarian law has a long historical dimension. This
history is deeply intertwined with the inevitability of war throughout human history
and its inherent capacity for causing suffering and destruction. Throughout history,
various legal frameworks, humanitarian principles, and philosophical and spiritual
perspectives have contributed to the evolution of rules and customs aimed at
reducing suffering during warfare. Hinduism, among the world's oldest and most
influential religions, has offered unique insights into warfare and ethical conduct.
This study aims to uncover the influence of Hindu traditions and sources on the
development of international humanitarian law and explore how these influences
have shaped the present state of international humanitarian law. The study adopts a
qualitative approach, analyzing research literature through descriptive analysis to
draw its conclusions. The findings reveal that Hindu religious sources, particularly
the core concept of non-violence, provide clear guidelines, and principles related to
the conduct of hostilities and rules of war. These principles resonate with various
aspects of international humanitarian law, including regulations on methods and
means of warfare, obligations for the dignified treatment and medical care of
prisoners of war, and the protection of civilians. Significantly, these principles were
later formalized in international law through the efforts of various individuals and
organizations, including the Red Cross and the Hague Conventions. This
contribution underscores the pivotal influence of Hindu sources in shaping
contemporary international humanitarian law.

Earthquakes are common events in the world nowadays. They are expanding toward
the new regions and increasing unexpectedly. Occasionally, undersea earthquakes
register small levels on the Richter scale along the eastern coast of Sri Lanka. The
Geologists believe a possible splitting of the Indo-Australian plate is just about 300
km from the southwest coast of Sri Lanka. In recent years, 2020, 2021, 2022, and
2023 the event of earth tremors registered in numbers 16, 18, 05, and 16 respectively.
Therefore, the vulnerability of Sri Lanka to earth tremor is higher now than before.
Most of the events have been observed along the eastern part of the country such as
Hambantota, Panama, Kalmunai, Batticaloa, and Trincomalee under the sea. The
study focused on finding out the reasons for contemporary situations regarding the
earth's tremors registering in unbelievable locations along the coast of the eastern
part. The study consists of qualitative approaches and many of the published papers
related to seismic activity in Sri Lanka were reviewed. Through the review, there is
a lot of evidence that found not only the reason for the splitting of the Indo-Australian
plate but also the creation of intraplate and development of fault systems both inland
of the country as well as in-depth of the Indian Ocean near Sri Lanka. This evidence
indicates a possibility both earthshaking and tsunamis are higher now than before.
Sri Lanka has a responsibility to develop strategies to protect the society against
seismic activity in the future.
