Mr. Siddilebbe was one of the great personalities of Sri Lanka. He was a lawyer, educationist, scholar,&#13;
philosopher, divination, writer, publisher, social reformer, proctor, visionary and Muslim community leader. Also as&#13;
the leader of Sri Lankan Muslim community, he guided the Muslims to be released from the traditional conservative&#13;
thoughts of refusing modernization to forward looking one in order to survive in the prevailing contemporary&#13;
situation. During the era of Siddi Lebbe, the Muslims face a huge drawback in all the fields such a political,&#13;
economic and social. The service rendered by Mr Siddi Lebbe were widespread and countless in the fields of&#13;
politics, economy, education, culture and religion of Sri Lankan Muslims. We can figure out these facts when we&#13;
analyze and asses his works and services accomplished by him having considered the prevailed situations of&#13;
Muslims in the 19th century. Thus the ultimate aim of this research is to bring to light the contributions made by&#13;
Mr Siddi Lebbe to the development of motherland, to both Muslims and the other brotherly communities.&#13;
Furthermore, I hope this would be secondary date based research and useful for those who engage in researches&#13;
about the great scholar Mr Siddi Lebbe

his article explores how the family, as the fundamental unit of society, can be established&#13;
with happiness and stability in light of Islamic teachings. Although family definitions vary according&#13;
to cultural, social, and contextual factors, social science literature emphasizes that the family is the&#13;
basic unit of society and a microcosm of human social life. This study integrates social science&#13;
approaches with the perspectives of the Qur'an, Sunnah, and classical Islamic scholars to elucidate&#13;
the Islamic foundations for a happy family life. The main objective of the study is to examine the&#13;
theoretical and practical dimensions of the core Islamic principles that contribute to family&#13;
happiness, including love (mawaddah), compassion (rahmah), tranquility (sakina), responsibility,&#13;
consultation, patience, forgiveness, economic stability, and spiritual ethics. Furthermore, the study&#13;
investigates the roles and responsibilities of family members-husband, wife, and children-and&#13;
how these contribute to family cohesion and happiness. Specifically, the guiding role of the father,&#13;
the emotional support of the mother, and the dutiful behavior of children are highlighted as&#13;
essential for family stability. Moreover, the study emphasizes the exemplary family life of the&#13;
Prophet (PBUH), showing that an Islamic family is not only a theoretical construct but also a&#13;
practical, implementable model of living. Hadiths and Prophetic practices demonstrate that love,&#13;
humor, mutual respect, and balance between husband and wife are central to a harmonious family&#13;
life. This article concludes that a happy family is achieved only when Islamic spiritual values and&#13;
social science principles are integrated. A family structured according to Islamic teachings provides&#13;
a strong foundation that ensures both individual well-being and societal stability.

<title>Hospitality in Islam and Thirukkural: A Comparative Study</title>
<link>http://www.digital.lib.esn.ac.lk//handle/1234/17767</link>
<description>Hospitality in Islam and Thirukkural: A Comparative Study
Mujahid, A. L. M.
Hospitality is a universal ethical principle valued across human societies, fostering respect, compassion, and social cohesion. Welcoming guests with care, providing food, and showing them honor are practices that strengthen human solidarity and social harmony, transcending geographical, religious, and cultural boundaries. In the Tamil tradition, the Tirukkural presents hospitality as a foundational aspect of domestic life. Thiruvalluvar emphasizes that households practicing hospitality exemplify true dignity and meaningful living, framing it as a moral virtue that enhances both individual and societal well-being. In Islamic tradition, hospitality carries both spiritual and social significance. It is considered a command of Allah and a demonstration of faith. The Qur’an and Hadith underscore its importance, with Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stating, “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his guest,” thereby establishing hospitality as a religious and ethical obligation. A comparative analysis reveals both traditions recognize hospitality as a means to nurture human values, social unity, and respect. However, while the Tirukkural emphasizes humanism and moral duty, Islam integrates spiritual accountability and divine obedience. Thus, hospitality emerges as a universal virtue that transcends culture and religion, linking human beings through shared ethical practice.

<title>Interfaith Dialogue in a Multicultural Social Context and Its Practice in Sri Lankan State Universities: An Islamic Perspective</title>
<link>http://www.digital.lib.esn.ac.lk//handle/1234/17766</link>
<description>Interfaith Dialogue in a Multicultural Social Context and Its Practice in Sri Lankan State Universities: An Islamic Perspective
Mujahid, A. L. M.
In today's modern world, excessive religious and ethnic chauvinism, along with prejudice between communities, has led to increased violence and conflict within societies. This trend is steering countries with multi-ethnic social structures, like Sri Lanka, towards destruction and has become a significant threat to national peace and security. Therefore, it has been widely emphasized that interfaith dialogue should be prioritized in multi-ethnic societies to prevent escalation into outright conflict. This study aims to present Islamic guidelines on the necessity of interfaith dialogue in a multi-ethnic context and to assess the practical stance of Muslim students in this regard at Sri Lankan state universities. To achieve the objectives of this research, a mixed-method approach was employed. Primary data were gathered through questionnaires and interviews, while secondary data were derived from previous literature. A total of 308 Muslim students from 12 faculties across 17 state universities in Sri Lanka were selected for data collection via questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel. Additional data were obtained through direct observation and elaborated within the study. The findings reveal that Muslim students studying at Sri Lankan state universities, guided by Islamic principles, exhibit strong interfaith relations. These include viewing individuals from other faiths as fellow human beings, engaging in respectful and meaningful dialogue, forming friendships with peers of other faiths, attending lectures together, playing sports jointly, inviting them home during holidays, assisting during difficulties, and participating in their joyous and sorrowful occasions. These actions indicate sustained interfaith relationships. However, it was observed that students of other religions studying at these universities had limited opportunities to independently learn about and understand the ethical teachings, values, moralprinciples, and belief-based aspects presented in Islamic sources such as the Qur'an and Sunnah. Consequently, this study offers recommendations and guidelines to expand such initiatives.
