dc.description.abstract The study was conducted to determine relationship between Study Anxiety and Academic Achievement (Based on Advanced level students in Matale Division) of Sri Lanka. Sample for this study was selected using purposive sampling from Schools in Matale District, Sri Lanka. Total number of samples is 120. The age range of the participants in this study was from 17 to 19 years. Tools used for data collection were standardized instruments selected subsequently to a comprehensive review of related literature. A questionnaire developed by the researcher was used to measure the study anxiety. Further academic achievement was measured using secondary data; term marks list of students from schools. The personal information schedule designed by the researcher was used to procure relevant demographic and socio- psychological information. All the scales were pretested through a pilot study to reconfirm their reliability and validity prior to the final investigation. Pearson correlation, t-test and ANOVA were used to analyze the data. Results indicated that there is a negative relationship between Academic anxiety and academic achievement of students. The result revealed that out of six demographic variables in this study one variable, explicitly; resident was significantly differ with Academic anxiety of students and also only two variables, explicitly; gender and family income were significantly differ with academic achievement of students. en_US
