சுவாமி விபுலாநந்தரின் ஒப்பியல் நோக்கு

Abstract

இருபதாம் நூற்றாண்டுத் தமிழாராய்ச்சியின் வளர்ச்சியில் விபுலாநந்தரது பங்களிப்பும் அளப்பரியது. அவர் முத்தமிழழயும் இழைத்துத் தமிழாய்வுகழள முன்னெடுத்தார். அவரது ஆய்வுகள் நூல்களாகவும் கட்டுழரயாக்கங்களாகவும் னவளிவந்தெ. பல்வவறு நிகழ்வுகளில் ஆற்றிய வபருழரகளும் தாம் ஆசிரியராகவிருந்த இதழ்களில் எழுதிய குறிப்புகளும் அவற்வறாடு இழைத்து வநாக்கத்தக்கெ. அவற்றிற் பல> ஒப்பியல் கண்வைாட்டத்தில் அணுகப்பட்டுள்ளெ. இந்நிழலயில்> அவரது கட்டுழரயாக்கங்கழள அடிப்பழடயாகக் னகாண்டு விபுலாநந்தரிடம் குடினகாண்டிருந்த ஒப்பியல் சிந்தழெவயாட்டங்கழள இக்கட்டுழர ஆய்ந்து னவளிப்படுத்துகிறது. அத்தழகய ஆய்வாெது விபரை> பகுப்பாய்வு> ஒப்பியல் அணுகுமுழறகழளக் ழகக்னகாள்கிறது. இவ்வாய்வின் வாயிலாக ஒப்பியலாய்வு வளர்ச்சியில் விபுலாந்தரின் பங்களிப்பு னவளிச்சம்வபாட்டுக் காட்டப்படுகிறது. தமிழில் ஒப்பியலாய்வின் வளர்ச்சி பற்றிச் சிந்திப்வபார் விபுலாந்தழரத் தவிர்க்கவியலாது என்பழத இந்த ஆய்வு நிறுவுகிறது. இலங்ழகயில் ஒப்பியல் ஆய்வு வகாட்பாட்டு அடிப்பழடயில் ழகலாசபதியால் முழுவீச்வசாடு முன்னெடுக்கப்பட்டனதன்பவத தமிழ் ஆய்வுலகம் அறிந்த னசய்தி. அண்ழைக் கால ஆய்வுகள் சில> ழகலாசபதிக்கு முன்ெர் தனிநாயக அடிகள் ஒப்பியல் சிந்தழெகழள னவளிப்படுத்தியிருந்தழைழய விரிவாெ சான்றுகளுடன் முன்னிறுத்துகின்றெ. இந்நிழலயில்> அவருக்கும் முன்ெர் விபுலாநந்தரிடம் இச்சிந்தழெ வலுவாக வவரூன்றி இருந்தவாற்ழறப் பல்வவறு சான்றுகழள முன்னிறுத்தி இவ்வாய்வு நிறுவுகிறது.

The contribution of Swami Vipulananda to the development of Tamil research in the twentieth century is also noteworthy. He advanced Tamil studies by integrating Muththamil. His research appeared in the form of books as well as essays. The keynote speeches he delivered at various events and the notes he wrote in the journals where he served as editor are also to be considered alongside these works. Many of them were approached from a comparative perspective. In this context, the present article examines and brings to light the streams of comparative thought that were deeply rooted in Vipulananda, based primarily on his essays. This study adopts descriptive, analytical, and comparative methodologies. Through this research, Vipulananda’s contribution to the growth of comparative studies is clearly highlighted. The study. establishes that anyone reflecting on the development of comparative research in Tamil cannot overlook Vipulananda. It is well known in Tamil scholarly circles that in Sri Lanka, comparative studies were systematically advanced on a theoretical basis by Kailasapathy. Some recent studies, with extensive evidence, argue that prior to Kailasapathy, Thaninayagam Adigal had articulated comparative ideas. In this context, the present study demonstrates, with various evidences, that even before him, such comparative thinking had been firmly rooted in Vipulananda.
