Abstract:
This study investigates the relationship between homework behaviour engagement,
prior academic achievements and the mediating effect of intrinsic motivation in
national schools in Eravur. This study was implemented with of three dimensions of
homework behaviour engagement, namely homework time management, time spent
on homework and amount of homework. lntrinsic motivation functioned as a mediator
between the two variables and the dependent variable is prior academic achievements.
This study eliminates the ernpirical knowledge gap in the Eravur area regarding this
topic.
Using a structured questionnaire the data was collected liom 300 students of selected
in national schools in Erar.rr. And the collected datawas analyzed by using descriptive
stat ist ics, co rrelat ion, med iat ing analyses.
The findings reveal that the homework behavior engagement and intrinsic
motivation are in high level among the respondents. Afid prior academic
achievements also high level among the respondents. The analyses stated the positive
relationship between the homework behavior engagement and prior academic
achievements, the strong positive relationship between the homework behavior
engagement and intrinsic motivation and the positive relationship between prior
academic achievements and intrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation has been found
to cast a partial mediating effect on the relationship between homework behavior
engagement and prior academic achievements.
